I bought only 1 because switching back and forth between my 2 trailers is very easy to do. My carrier is bolted to the neck of my trailers ( my trailers both have 1/8' thick 2 1/2" boxed steel necks) and since both my trailers use the same size wheel - ST205/75R14 the carrier has proven to be a very useful and easy way to carry a spare for those unexpected flats along the highway.
My trailer wheels are a standard 5-lug patten and this carrier bolted up to them with no problem.
