Aosom 2in1 Double Baby Bike Trailer/stroller--Blue Review

Aosom 2in1 Double Baby Bike Trailer/stroller--Blue
Average Reviews:

Just got done putting together the Aesom trailer and wanted to offer some first impressions, pros and cons.
Pros:
* Fairly easy to put together and the obviously translated from Chinese instructions were kind of funny ("... invaginate the wheel into the coupling")
* Feels sturdy and well-designed. Switch from jogger to bicycle attachment looks easy.
Cons
* Ordered blue, got red
* Cracked plastic casing that holds the handlebar similar to another reviewer's experience. Emailed company - and literally got a human response less than 10 minutes later with a promise to replace the part.
* This is the biggie: specs stated a 100lb weight limit. I have a 5 and 2 year old. Together they weigh maybe 60 lbs. What I didn't see anywhere was a HEIGHT restriction. There is a line printed on the seat back saying do not go past this. And my 2 year old's head is less than an inch from that line without a helmet. The 5 year old is way too tall. What a bummer. I guess I will look around and see if this is a common restriction in bike trailers.

Schwinn Trailblazer Double Bicycle Trailer Review

We got this as a gift and were super excited to try it out. I decided I should be the one to have the trailer attached to my bike so I was used to it when I took our son alone. I could not believe how light the trailer was even with my almost 2 year old son inside. It was very easy to put together and attach to the bike. I wish the pictures on th instructions would have been a bit clearer. Our son liked the bike trip so much he fell asleep. It took bumps much better than I expected and moved easily. I was so excited that this trailer works as well as it does.

InStep Rocket Aluminum Bike Trailer Review

InStep Rocket Aluminum Bike Trailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Price: for what you get Great
Size: Best there is including expensive competitors but still cramped for two. Wheel guards make this thing pretty wide.
Quality: It seems in accordance with price.
Assembly: Easy
Ease of use: uses snaps and velcro. Opening and closing the passenger and luggage compartments is could be improved by using buckles instead of snaps. the older models clips were easier to use than the snap.
Comfort: My kids say they like it but still would like more room. Seat is hardly a seat. It is a sling. Has cup holders they like.
Attach to bike: Easynote: - DOES NOT fit all bikes (needs half inch radius clearance around the nut on the rear wheel opposite the chain to attach the coulper)
Ease to walk with: Very good
Jogging: Passable with or without the 3rd wheel. I do not often use it to run b/c I have a koolstop double jogger. This is my 3rd bike trailer. It is my second from in step.
My last instep was used when I got it. I loaded 2 kids, library books and groceries in it 10+ miles per week for 2 years. When its frame broke I searched through hundreds of reviews from $70-$300 trailers. This one has now been in service for over a year. I have beat the daylights out of it and it keeps going.
I got this (NEW) because it claimed to be larger and lighter than in-step's entry level and other brand's trailers. I also liked the ability to unhook it and walk/run with it.
Size: Compared to the Quick and EZ:
It is larger in the luggage area, shoulder area (25 inches vs. 20 inches.) and foot well width is 22" vs. 20" (foot reach is the same 12" from front of seat to cross bar at toes). height is equal.
The BIG problem is that my skinny 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old girls wanted more room at the hips. The Q&EZ and Rocket are the same at 20". The sling seat in the new one actually causes the kids to slide to the center. This seat provides less support than our old trailer. The new EZ's prob have the new poorly designed seats too.
I checked widths of pretty much everything out there ON LINE but was not able to physically check them out for widths and fit for my kids. This appeared to be the widest (along with the schwinn Mark II).
weightwise - I haven't put the old one a a scale but they feel about the same. The new one is larger but made of Aluminum rather than steel. Al+ also won't rust.
The difference between this and the step down is front wheel and push bar addition.
The difference between this and the next step up is the type of front wheel. I already have a quality jogger from Koolstop so I opted for the flip down small swivel front wheel. I did try running with it. It works fine as a jogger. Basically the front wheel doesn't interfere because it can easily be floated over the ground with light pressure on the handle bar. If you are a serious runner, even the Schwinn mark III is going to leave you wanting something better. Save the money on the not so useful harder to store and use large front wheel.
Be sure to check schwinn trailers as well - they are both made by pacific cycles - schwinn has a better warrantee and I think they look nicer and would rather sport the schwinn name. If you see one on sale for the same price get it - if price is more go with the instep.
Burley's, BOB, Chariots and everything else is WAYYYY overpriced. Even if you use you trailer a WHOLE lot (unless money is not an issue for you) there is no reason to pay the kind of money they want.
Difficult to pull? I have read many other reviews stating this are hard to pull up hill. That is true but it is true of EVERY trailer. Blame Newton and Einstein or God himself. If you attach a 29 pound trailer, throw in 60 pounds of kids, a 5 pound bag and several books Gravity will work against you. Others say on a flat surface you can't feel it. Again - an object in motion tends to remain in motion. This stroller's axles seem well constructed and roll freely. Tire tread typ and width are pretty standard on trailers. So how easy it is depends on your fitness level, the weight your are pulling, laws of motion and gravity.
On even ground I ride between 12-15 mph and typically take 2 to 5 mile rides with it. I am a competitive triathlete.

Xterra Bicycle Trailer with Jogging Conversion - Black/ Red Review

Xterra Bicycle Trailer with Jogging Conversion - Black/ Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked up this bike trailer after returning a Schwinn. This bike trailer assembles easily and quickly right out of the box. Attaching it to your bike is a breeze. I wanted a trailer that was easy to switch between bikes and this trailer can be switched in less than a minute without requiring any tools. My husband and I both have Cannondale mountain bikes and we didn't have any problems attaching it to our bikes. I love the heavy duty canvas material that covers the trailer. It is much more durable than the other materials used in the Insteps, Schwinns and even Burley. The trailer comfortably seats two children up to 100 lbs total. It has both the waist straps and shoulder harness for your little one's safety. Converting to the trailer into the jogging stroller is equally as easy involves removing a pin and folding the trailer arm underneath, securing it with straps and snapping on the front tire. In addition to the zippered screen to keep the bugs out, it also has a clear rain cover that zippers on the front window to keep the kids dry. Behind the seat in a separate compartment, there is a very roomy storage area that is secured to bring along anything you might need. The trailer folds down and stores away nicely but honestly, we have just kept it out and put together because we have been using it everyday since I brought it home. My child loves this trailer. I love it because of its ease of use, quality, lightweight aluminum frame makes it easy to tow and it is safe and sturdy. After doing tons of research and even buying and returning another trailer, I am so glad that I have found this trailer. Its exactly what we wanted and so far worth every penny. FYI: The box also says its safe to tow your pets in too :)

WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer Review

WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I agree with the other reviewers regarding the excellent build quality of this "trailer bike." I was very skeptical about the quality, given the unbelievable price (compare to Trek etc.), but decided to give it a shot anyway.
Setup was pretty easy. The only problem was that the seatpost wouldn't go all the way into the frame, which was a must in order for my 4.5 yr old to ride. I needed to jam a scrap metal pipe into the frame's seat tube a couple times in order to knock loose some chunks of metal flashing that were preventing the seatpost from going all the way in. Once that was done though, everything was great. As for attaching to the lead bike, there is a "hitch receiver" that bolts onto the seatpost of the lead bike. The lead bike needs 2 inches of exposed seatpost in order to attach the hitch receiver. The WeeRide attaches to the hitch receiver exactly as would an automobile trailer hitch, except that the WeeRide comes with a quick release bolt for easy attachment/detachment to/from the lead bike. The hinge for folding the WeeRide is also secured by a quick release bolt. Those two quick releases are all you need to mess with when you want to go for a ride. Very simple!
The bike is *almost* too big for my 4.5 yr old daughter to ride. She was freaked out at first because, even with the seat all the way down, she can't touch the ground with her feet. And the hinged coupling between the seatpost "hitch" and the WeeRide frame has a little play in it, so it felt a bit wobbly to my daughter at first. But once she got used to the idea that she's firmly attached to Dad's bike, and Dad's bike doesn't tip over :) , she started to enjoy herself. More about fit: the crankarms on the WeeRide are pretty long, so I expect my kids to be able to enjoy it for as long as we want to. It will take a *very* long time for the kids to physically outgrow this bike.
A few thoughts about safety. First of all, the WeeRide does not have any braking capability. The copilot's choices are to pedal or to freewheel. This is good, since it ensures that the copilot can't lock up the back wheel. It seems like that might potentially cause problems (think jackknifed 18-wheelers). Second, the "pilot," or lead bicyclist, needs to avoid bumps as much as possible, and if not possible, the pilot needs to warn the copilot, just as on a tandem bike. The copilot can *not* see straight ahead when riding! Third, the pilot must avoid any sudden movements if possible. Don't stop too hard, accelerate too suddenly, or turn too quickly! It's very easy for the copilot to space out and relax a bit too much, since they don't have to do any work! Warn in advance before turning etc. if possible.
All that said, my 4.5 yr old daughter LOVES being a copilot! This half-bike allows my wife, my 7 year old son, my daughter and I to all go on rides together and explore a lot more than we could when my daughter was riding her little 16" bike with training wheels. Much more enjoyable for all this way!

Train a child how to ride a bike without dealing with training wheels with the WeeRide Co-Pilot bike trailer. The Co-Pilot--which attaches quickly and easily to almost any bicycle with a seat post--is just like a regular bike, with handlebars, a seat, and pedals for your youngster. However, you have control of the actual ride, including speed, balancing, braking, and steering, while your child tags along. It's a great way to teach basic biking skills and safety without giving up control before he or she is ready. Your son or daughter and pedal to help you along or just coast and enjoy the scenery.
The Co-Pilot is equipped with a true quick-release system for quick detachment from the adult bike, along with adjustable handlebars that accommodate children of different heights. In addition, the seat is more comfortable and better built than typical bike trailer seats, so your child will want to keep riding throughout the day. And once you arrive at your destination, the arms fold up easily for compact storage. Other features include an attractive black and silver color scheme, a safety flag and handlebar pad, and a 20-inch wheel size. The Co-Pilot--which holds up to 75 pounds--weighs 24 pounds by itself and is recommended for ages 4 to 9.

InStep Sierra Double Bicycle Trailer Review

InStep Sierra Double Bicycle Trailer
Average Reviews:

We returned InStep EZ Rider that we ordered from Amazon.com for 1 big reason...the seat was not even a seat, it was a piece of nylon held by stitching. The shoulder and crotch straps were totally ineffective. Don't bother buying the EZ Rider in effort to save $30.
Buy the Sierra. The seat is padded and supported on the bottom, the straps have padded sections and the buckles are easy to use. The details forgotten on the EZ Rider were included on the Sierra (fabric safety flag, all metal clips, more velcro, less buttons, nice rubberized stroller handle accessory).
Did I mention...spend the extra $30 and get this bike trailer. If is worth it. Look no further.

Aosom 2in1 Double Baby Bicycle Bike Trailer and Stroller Review

Aosom 2in1 Double Baby Bicycle Bike Trailer and Stroller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased this bike trailer after researching several of the other mid-range 2-in-1 Double bike trailers. This one has all the features of the others and more, but does have a few short-comings.
PROS:
1. It's one of the roomier models for two children
2. It has a full front wheel attachment for Stroller/Jogger mode and has an included hand brake
3. It has two adjustable 5-point harnesses that work as intended
4. It has a nicely cushioned seat, and extra protection under the footbed to reduce tears
5. It has 20" outrigger style wheels that roll smoothly and easily
6. You can buy additonal couplers for multiple bikes
7. The protective covers attach securely with Velcro in multiple places and it has an ample rear storage area
8. The bike tow bar tucks neatly under the trailer when in Jogger mode
9. The Jogger bar can remain attached with wheel in storage area if preferred
10. It is priced lower than comparable brands/models
11. It is well-made, uses good hardware and materials and looks great
CONS:
1. In Jogger mode with two children inside it can tip backwards if not attended due to center of gravity being directly over axle and backrest angle
2. The coupler will not fit as intended on bikes with quick-release wheels. The coupler is designed to fit rear axles that are held on by screw nuts. (Note: I was able to mount it another way via disc brake mounting holes at left rear frame arm)
3. The seat is directly over the axle and although it is nicely padded it causes the passenger(s) to be leaned forward a bit
4. The backrest forces the passenger(s) head forward when wearing a helmet which may be uncomfortable on long rides
5. The flag that comes with it is wimpy and flimsy, but is an easy upgrade
All in all I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Mainly for the fact that it won't attach to all bike frames easily and can tip in Jogger mode if unattended with passengers (which i don't recommend anyway). Compared to the competition (which also have similar drawbacks) the Aosom 2-in-1 Double Bike Trailer is well worth the price, and has some great features and excellent build quality.

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer (Red/Gray) Review

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer (Red/Gray)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my 2nd bike trailer, the first was an Instep brand. I hated it! I returned it- the main reason was the seats were TERRIBLE! My daughters were basically suspended from their crotches by the time we got done with our first (and last) ride. So the most important feature I was looking for when finding the Schwinn PR150 was comfortable seating...with which I am fully satisfied. These seats are big and cushy with comfortable harnesses.
Other reasons I am happy with this purchase:
-Easily converts to double stroller (includes wheel- no need to purchase seperate kit)
-Cool updated look- a little newer than most trailers
-Comes with zip-off weather protector
-Storage area behind kid's seat
-Large storage pouch on the back
-Large storage and cupholder thing on handle (when used as stroller)
-Very easy to set up
-Very easy to convert from trailer to stroller and bar that hooks to bike folds under nicely.
I would definitley reccommend this product. It's worth the extra money and the quality surpasses the Target one I originally bought. I also looked into Burley, Ive heard good things about them, but decided on this because it was about a hundred bucks cheaper and came with conversion kit.

Aosom Bicycle Bike Cargo Trailer-yellow and Black Review

Aosom Bicycle Bike Cargo Trailer-yellow and Black
Average Reviews:

This trailer is a very good trailer for carrying groceries or other items that are too big to fit in a basket on the front of your bike. The reason I give this a 4 star rating is because when you are carrying a full load, it could shift poking out the sides and causing it to rub against the tires and putting a hole in the fabric. This is what happened to mine but it can be patched up. No big deal. Just keep a watch on this when hauling a load. Another thing, the trailer cover is not rainproof and if you are carrying anything that can't get wet, then you need to buy what I bought which is some water repellent spray which you can spray all over the top of it. I also put stuff in waterproof bags. These are the only 2 problems that I see with this trailer, other than that, its an excellent trailer and tracks very well. I have read other reviews here and like people say, you hardly notice the trailer behind you because it is very quiet when pulling. I've had alot of people stop me while riding and ask me about it. It also holds alot of weight which sold me onto this trailer in the first place. I would recommend this trailer to others.

Schwinn Express Bike Trailer Review

Schwinn Express Bike Trailer
Average Reviews:

We have the Schwinn trailer.
It is the third bike trailer we've owned so we've had some experience!
The elastic for cup-holders etc including the bands which are to hold the rain cover when not in use, deteriorates more quickly than it should. It has been always stored out of the weather.
To switch easily between bikes, you must purchase an extra coupler. The first trailer we had (different brand), was easy to switch between bikes.
I do not like the strap configuration. The child can easily slip out (should there have been a chest connector?), and for a taller child (still well within the weight restriction), the shoulder straps are not high enough on the back of the seat. They get uncomfortable.
It's not the best trailer we've had.

InStep Quick N EZ Bicycle Trailer Review

InStep Quick N EZ Bicycle Trailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
March 25th, 2005
I am an avid cyclist who needed to maximize my time in the saddle by including my son on my rides. I searched all the brands from Wike on down to the Schwinn's and Insteps. I am a big believer in the right equipment for the job.
Value:
This trailer, although it may not last forever, should last a long time and is well worth the money spent; $[...]at Target. Especially compared to trailers at $[...]and up. Bottom line is how much do you bike, and how frequently will you use the trailer? I used it for the second half of last season (2004) and it still looks new and has little wear. I put approximately 1000 miles on it so far. On days where my son is not with me I load it up with approx. 65lbs of weight (50lb bag of charcoal and a case of Poland Spring water)and use it as a trainer. This weight approximates two small children and it holds up just fine.
Fun Factor;
My son loves going out on rides with me. It has a small pouch/cup holder sewn on each side of the interior, great for a sippy cup and a bag of snacks. It also has a trunk of sorts in the back. A flap that has snaps all around the perimeter of the rear, big enough to put an extra change of clothes and picnic things, or sand toys if you are visiting a playground on your journey.
Safety;
It comes with a basic small reflector on the bottom left of the rear. My opinion is this is not visible enough, get yourself a blinking reflector type light, approx. $10-15 in any bike shop. Mounting it may be a bit tricky, I cut the fabric at the bottom and clamped it on to the frame. It also comes with that neon orange flag, which can be spotted a mile away. And the base colors of blue and yellow stand out pretty good too. The harness,/hinge is a spring (with a safety cable through the center of the spring) that flexes, if you lay the bike down the trailer stays upright. The spring also flexes when you are riding to absorb some of the shifting of weight when your little guys move around back there, making it more comfortable than solid connections. Pros:
1) Price, $[...], you can't beat the price/value anywhere.
2) Quite, I'm used to a bike that makes no noise, and this did not let me down.
3) Bright colored fabric, help you to be seen, along with the neon orange flag.
4) Your own personal cheering team to "Go faster Daddy", and you really can't beat that!
Cons:
1) Floor is made from same fabric as the main compartment, this might be the first failure in the unit as my son gets bigger and heavier. Some more expensive models use a plastic tray as a base.
2) Needs a better light in the rear.
3) Once you get your child one of these , you will not be able to go for a solo ride anymore without dealing with tears and pleads to go "ridin" too.One very important recommendation, after you install your hardware and hook up the trailer, do yourself and your child a favor and put something heavier than your child in the back. Then ride it for a good long ride. Do a few panic stops, brake on corners, get used to the weight back there, it is very different than what you are used to without it. Don't learn while your little Man or Lady is back there.
Be safe and ride till your legs fall off.
Dave
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Update 09/30/05
This past season 2005 I started riding with my two and a half year old daughter as well. It is a little tight at times. My son (4.5yrs) tends to elbow her in the face. Because the bottom is made out of fabric, they have a tendancy to fall into one another at the center(like an old mattress). This is not a problem when there is only one child of course, but two is a little uncomfortable. I have purchased the newer Instep with a plastic bottom to prevent this. I wont actually use it until next season; 2006, I will post on that when I have some experience with it.
If you only have one child, or two about the same size, this still gets high marks from me.
Also, the tubes in this do not hold air indefinitely. You do need to check on the PSI once in a while, you will roll much easier if you have the right air pressure, unless of course you want that workout.
Safe riding!

Valley 90590 Deluxe Hitch Mount Cargo Basket Review

I own a Jeep Wrangler. If you know anything about Wranglers, you would know that the trunk in a wrangler is just big enough to hold a pair of socks...if you fold them carefully.
I bought the Valley Deluxe Carrier about 9 camping trips ago and I couldn't be happier! The unit works like a charm. Unlike the last hitch carrier I had, this one has a nice "rise" feature built into it. This is very handy when going up or down steep driveways and roads. I also found that the "rise" feature helps keep your stuff cleaner in rainy/muddy conditions because it puts your items higher off of the ground and away from the tires. I have loaded it to the max and it works flawlessly.
The tall sides are a nice feature that set this unit apart from those of lesser quality.
If you buy this (or any brand) of carrier, be sure to get a nice set of 3 or 4 ratcheting straps to hold your gear in place. Ratcheting straps also hold my kids in place very well as I found that they always seemed to be able to wiggle out of the bungee cords :).

Coupler Attachment - InStep & Schwinn Bike Trailers Review

We have a bike trailer that uses this and it is great, easy to hook the trailer on and off. We are ordering a second for our other bike. Instep had been out of stock for a while and they have them again. I am glad I never thought to look here because it is $8.99 on the InStep website and for me in Michigan it is only $4 shipping. That's $12.99 total which is less than the price of the item only here on Amazon. Had I bought this here I would have paid almost $20 for the item plus shipping.

Croozer Designs Cargo Trunk Bicycle Trailer Review

I purchased this from Amazon for $200 w/ shipping and everything. I wanted a cargo trailer that would fold and that was rectangular. This is the only one that I found after a quick search. w/ free shipping it was hard to pass up.
All around it's a good folding design. It's similar in quality to a child's trailer. Some of the joints are plastic, while I wish they would be metal. I'm concerned it will wear out after a lot of use (how I plan to use it). If you don't need it to fold up, you might want to purchase a rigid all-metal trailer.

InStep Quick N EZ Double Bicycle Trailer Review

InStep Quick N EZ Double Bicycle Trailer
After a long search i settled on the Quick N EZ Double Bicycle Trailer from InStep. Packaging was good. Assembly took me around 20 minutes as most of the trailer is pre assembled. No assembly tool required. We just need to lift up the side rails, slide in the tires, bring the tow forward. Installing the connector on the bike took another 10 minutes. I have Shwinn S25.The only thing missing on my trailer was the desired psi of the tires as they come deflated. As per the manual there should be psi ratings on the tires side. I guess the sticker was missing on the ones that i got. Anyways, i just went online and looked at the various instep manuals. Desired air pressure on the tires is 20-25psi and 25psi is recommended for a smooth ride. After i assembled i took it for a ride with my son (he is 27 months old). Pulling this trailer is easy and smooth. Since its double trailer, it has three seat belt options. If you are riding with one kid, you have to use the one in the center. If you have two kids in the trailer, you can use the two side seat-belts which really helps to balance the trailer.
It comes with a handle bar and front tire attachment to use it as a jogging stroller. Its a good option, especially with the brake system but i don't need it at present.
I will rate this trailer 5 stars because of strong build and quality.

InStep Take 2 Double BicycleTrailer Review

InStep Take 2 Double BicycleTrailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I chose this trailer because I have a very active two and a half year old little boy, and I was worried about the stabilty of one of those chairs that attach to the seat of your bike. I liked this trailer for its smaller size and that it is fairly light and seemed fairly sturdy, okay now here is how it did.
SET UP: was very easy, instructions where pretty clear, and most was commonsense. The only thing I had a little trouble with was loosening the bolt on the bike to attach the trailer, so if you have an older bike this part might require a little more muscle.
THE RIDE: I took the trailer on a 5 mile test drive today, the trail was paved, but very bumpy due to root growth breaking through the pavement, over wooden bridges, and up quite a few hills. The trailer did well over the bumps just don't take rough terrain fast. Turning the corners onto the bridges presented a challenge, I would have to dismount the bike and lift the back tire to slide the trailer enough to get it onto the bridge. If it where any larger I would not have been able to take it on the trail. Hills where impossible for me at this time, the slight inclines I could handle, but hills are tough on a bike to begin with, but add 40+ lbs and it becomes VERY hard, I have fairly strong legs but I had to walk the bike and trailer up the steep hills.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are doing any amount of hills your breaks on your bike will need to be replaced a lot sooner, it was hard to keep a decent pace with the trailer going down hill, and my brakes where screaming the whole way.
When you go up and down road curbs you have to take them SLOWLY, and when you kick off to start peddling use your right foot, the left will get caught under the hitch bar and you will end up with bruised heels and ankles and ruin your sneakers.
MAJOR CONS: I really don't like the way the front mesh is set up, the back tires kicks dirt up into the trailer and by the time we where done with our ride my son was covered with dirt, and I was on pavement the whole time. It does come with a clear rain cover but if you use that there are no vents and the inside gets way too hot.
Overall Im pleased with the cart, It does what i need it too. Also, on another review someone mentioned that you can't ajust the sag on the bottom, and you can- the straps are just under the "seat" you can tighten them up all the way and it creates more of a seat look instead of just a big dip. Though I am still trying to find out if it can recline, my sons head was bobbling everywhere once he fell asleep.
Also, I can't see two kids fitting and being comfortable for any length of time; unless your kids get along great and don't mind their shoulders touching.
I also can't see the material lasting long with regular use, it is a cheap plastic pretend canvas that looks a little flimsy, so long as it holds up it is a good deal, once mine gives out I will probably go for a better one, but this one is great for the price.

InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray Review

InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this for our 13 month old daughter. Several years ago we purchased a bike child seat that attached to the rear of the bike. That was a disaster. Too heavy, akward, and very uncomfortable for the child. So we looked at trailers instead for our youngest. Most of the trailers have two seats, but from what I read and saw in stores, the seats are extremely small and it's not realistic to fit two kids in the trailer together. Plus we only have one kid who isn't riding their own bike. I didn't want to haul around the extra room and weight if the space wasn't needed.
Setup was fairly easy. The instructions to install the hitch to the bicycle are good, and I had it attached within about 15 minutes of setting up the trailer itself. I also bought a second coupling so my wife and I can quickly switch the trailer between bikes.
There is plenty of room for a single child, and strapping my daughter in there was easy. The seat bottom has tension adjusters to keep the trailer bottom from sagging, although there's no way the floor would ever drag. The real beauty of this is once you get your child strapped in and attached to the bike. Unlike the child seat, I had no idea the trailer was behind me. The weight is hardly noticable. The ride is smooth, there is no jerking, it corners naturally, and my daughter sits in the trailer with a huge smile on her face. Some of the bike rides have been lengthy for a one year old - up to an hour, and so far she's never started fussing while being towed around. There is also a small amount of cargo space behind the seat. Enough for a diaper bag or some water bottles.
Overall we're very happy we found this unit. The price and weight were less than the double units, and so far no problems with performance.
